welcome to flamingo cricket club
chairman's message for 2009
- robin o'grady
I am honoured to be Chairman for our 50th anniversary in 2009 and pleased that we play at The Holt Cricket Ground, which is set in the heart of the Hampshire countryside at Upham, near Bishops Waltham. We are extremely fortunate in playing our cricket at one of the most picturesque grounds in Hampshire.
Despite the setback of our 1st XI's relegation last season, we are looking forward to competing in Hampshire Cricket League, County Division 2 and Hampshire Cricket League, Regional Division 2 North East. Due to injury, Chris McLean has stepped down as 1st XI Captain but, I am delighted that Richard Manthorpe has been elected to skipper this season's campaign. Best of luck Richard from everyone associated with the Club.
After an enjoyable and successful 2008 season, it's pleasing that Adie Heath takes charge of 2nd XI affairs again this season. It would be fantastic if both Richard and Adie were able to achieve promotion in our 50th anniversary season. I do hope that the wet conditions we experienced in season's 2007 and 2008 are not repeated in 2009. When the weather is warm, there is no better place to be than, at The Holt, watching Flamingo CC play cricket in the sun.
My thanks to everyone associated with the Club with all that you do, whether playing, umpiring, scoring, preparing the square, cutting the grass, making the teas or maintaining the clubhouse etc. Without you, there is no Flamingo Cricket Club. Also, I would like to say a special thank you to Tom Gardner, who has created and maintains our superb website. Please email Tom if you have any news, reports etc that you would like uploaded. Enjoy your summer.
