welcome to flamingo cricket club
chairman's message for 2011 - robin o'grady
The warm April weather has really got people in summer mood already. Let's hope the sunshine
and hot temperatures continue throughout the 2011 cricket season and bring success to Flamingo CC. The Club
has a number of challenges to deal with this season, particularly in trying to attract new players for both
the 1st XI and 2nd XI. There is no better place to play cricket than at The Holt, Upham with Flamingo CC.
Without new life blood the Club will struggle to maintain its presence in two divisions of the Hampshire
Cricket League. Newly elected Jon Greer will captain the 1st XI and Adie Heath will carry on captaining the
2nd XI. My best wishes go to both skippers and I hope they have an enjoyable season ahead.
Fundraising is an important part of any sports club and it is our intention to organise
a Race Night in mid-season so I urge all members to support this event. Full details will follow in due
course. However, we can all help raise funds through on-line shopping and making purchases via our own
website. Please see the link to www.easyfundraising.org.uk.
Just register your interest to support Flamingo
CC and all purchases made through this website will earn Flamingo CC much needed cash to ensure cricket
continues at our picturesque ground.
As I look forward to the 2011 season, my thanks go out to everyone within the club whether
playing, scoring, umpiring, preparing the square, cutting the grass, making teas, running the bar, uploading
the website or maintaining our ageing clubhouse. Your support is hugely appreciated and without you, there
is no Flamingo CC.
Have a great summer and enjoy your cricket.
